Lawmakers from both chambers of the U.S. Congress are mulling a joint resolution to amend the U.S. Constitution a 28th time to specifically prohibit “snakeoil salesmen, former reality TV show hosts and the mentally infirm” from running for and getting elected President or Vice President of the United States of America, a Washington insider and aide to a powerful red state lawmaker claims.
According to the source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, the idea is still in its preliminary stage, but is steadily gaining steam in the House and the Senate in the wake of the Trump administration’s incompetent and disastrous response to the COVID-19 pandemic, which has claimed the lives of over 50,000 Americans and counting.
“There is no intellectual adult in the room in the White House at the moment, that much is clear,” the source said, “And while we can certainly use the power of the vote in November to fix this, many feel we need to go the extra mile and make sure we don’t put another Trump in the Oval Office.”
If approved by both chambers on a two-thirds vote, the proposed “28th Amendment” resolution will mandate a Wechsler Adult IQ test for all prospective candidates for both the positions of President and Vice President. Anyone who scores below 80 on the scale will be considered mentally infirm or a moron and will be ineligible to run for either position.
The amendment also seeks to enforce a mandatory employment background check on presidential and vice-presidential candidates to ensure that they have not engaged in borderline criminal acts involving deception and the selling of false promises. There is also a specific clause that outright bans “anyone who has ever hosted a reality TV show” from running for President or Vice President. (Sorry, Jeff Probst.)
It is understood the resolution will not affect those who are incumbent.
“While it is true that the U.S. Constitutions exerts that all men are created equal, we simply cannot apply that to morons when talking about the two highest positions in our nation,” the source said. “We have seen almost every day for the last three years the dangerous effects of having a moron run your country. All this amendment says is that ‘Morons can still live their lives free in the U.S. They just can’t be President or Vice President.'”
